U.S. Air Force tactical aircraft maintainers assigned to the 20th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron spend their shift doing a variety of tasks to ensure Shaw’s F-16CM Fighting Falcons are operational and their pilots are safe. Tactical aircraft maintainers must pay close attention to detail while inspecting aircraft and tools, securing loose equipment and ensuring the absence of foreign object debris, which can cause damage to aircraft engines. The aircraft are inspected for safety to include mechanical failures and loose panels prior to and after every flight.
