The Shaw Retiree Activities Office is scheduled to host a retiree town hall meeting April 11 from 6-8 p.m., at the Carolina Skies Club here.

The meeting will be an informal format for retirees to get information about current issues and concerns. There will be a series of briefings and a question and answer session during the two hour event.

The Sheppard Center in Sumter, Veteran's Affairs, Tricare, and agencies from base will all have booths at the meeting. Base leadership is also scheduled to attend, said Bob Sullivan, Shaw Retiree Activities Office director.

The town hall meeting is open to all military retirees regardless of what branch of service they were affiliated with.

"This is important meeting because we have a lot of retirees in the Sumter community, and there is a lot of information they might not have access to," Sullivan said. "This is our opportunity to reach out to the retired community and tell them their service is appreciated. We have the chance to tell them about base programs and bring them up to date on current issues."
