The Shaw Restoration Advisory Board is the cornerstone of a proactive community involvement program to promote communication between the community and the Air Force regarding environmental cleanup at the base. The mission of the Shaw RAB is to establish and maintain open and interactive dialogue between the US Air Force, state regulatory agencies and the local community concerning the Environmental Restoration Program at Shaw Air Force Base. Meetings are held biannually and open to the public.

Shaw is hosting a public meeting at 6:30 p.m., on Feb. 23, 2015, at the New Beginnings Banquet Facility, 1335 SC Highway 441, and invites the public to attend and participate. Shaw is conducting an ongoing series of environmental activities under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act, a federal law enacted in 1980 to require the investigation and cleanup of legacy sites throughout the country. These initiatives are also accomplished within the guidelines of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976.
The meeting is of Shaw's Restoration Advisory Board. The board provides a forum through which local communities, installations and regulatory agencies can work together in an atmosphere that encourages discussion and exchange of information on current and future environmental cleanup programs here.
The purposes of this meeting are to allow the community the opportunity to view detailed information about ongoing Shaw's environmental cleanup activities and to discuss specific questions and answers with the Shaw Environmental Restoration Team on a one-on-one basis.
