2/29/2012 - SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- This week's Shaw spotlight is Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Wood, 20th Fighter Wing ground safety apprentice, from Greensboro, N.C.

"Sergeant Wood has been an asset to the Wing Safety Office since his arrival," said Tech. Sgt. John Skelton, 20th Fighter wing safety." He is eager to learn and has demonstrated his ability to communicate the safety message throughout the base. He is a self-starter and always looking for what can be done to improve a process or function in the office and around the installation. Wood is already performing tasks that would be reserved for more experienced technicians because of his desire to learn and perform at a high level."

Wood's desire to learn has gained recognition from his coworkers.

"I have been in the safety program for many years and SSgt Wood is impressive," said Scott Eck, 20th FW Ground Safety Manager. "He has a true desire to learn all about ground safety; he wants to know the how and the why of what we do. He jumps right in with both feet, and what impresses me the most is many times he operates and carries himself like a seasoned safety professional."
