7/31/2012 - SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- This week's Shaw Spotlight is Senior Airman Lecedric Hester, 20th Maintenance Operations Squadron weapons standardization squadron lead crew member from San Antonio, Texas. Hester says he has evolved during his three years of being in the U.S. Air Force. He has deployed once from Shaw during his three years on station.


"In order to reach a point of no boundaries, you must first know the boundaries," said Hester.

"While in the desert, myself and a couple of other Airman felt like we were working out hard with no goals until we researched triathlons."


"My wife has been a great motivator, coach and just an awesome supporter helping me train for triathlons," added Hester.


"Hester is an outstanding young Airman," said Chief Master Sgt. Richard Barbee, 20th Fighter Wing weapons manager." I look forward to him progressing in this career
field if he decides to stay in."

Family: It's just me, my wife Debbie, and our dog Sergeant (we named him before I
joined the Air Force) here.

Music: I listen to all types of music

Sports Team: I like the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys

Guilty Pleasure: Cupcakes

Goal: At the moment, it would be to complete a full Ironman Triathlon. (2.4- mile swim, 112- mile bike ride, and a 26.2- mile run).

Biggest accomplishment: Completing a sprint triathlon. (600- yard swim, 12- mile bike ride, and a 3- mile run).

Heroes: My parents are my heroes. They have been instrumental in my journey to becoming the man I am today.

Favorite Food: Chinese

If you were stuck on a desert island what 3 things would you have? IPod, fire starter and a knife
