Shaw Airmen compete in weapon’s loading contest
The 79th Aircraft Maintenance Unit “Tigers” competed against the 55th AMU “Shooters” at the Weapons Load Crew of the Year competition at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Feb. 1, 2013. The 77th AMU “Gamblers” will be competing from their deployed location and will send their scores. The weapon’s load competition is held once a quarter which leads up to the annual competition. The contests include a 20-question test based on the munitions the load crews are certified on, a uniform inspection, an inspection of their 250-piece tool box and their speed and efficiency in loading weapons. The weapons the competitors loaded included two types of air-intercept missiles, two AIM-120 missiles, two AIM-9M missiles and 510 rounds of 20mm ammunition. The results of the annual competition are scheduled to be released at the Maintenance Professional of the Year Banquet, April 26, 2013. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Krystal M.
