SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. --   The United Arab Emirates government instituted a new visa policy on October 1, 2009. All persons traveling to or transiting the UAE on a U.S. diplomatic or official passport must obtain a visa prior to arrival.

Information from the UAEG about the practical implementation of this policy, to include the guidelines for applying for UAE visas in Washington, is not yet available and appears to be still in development.
