Red Flag 11-3: force multipliers in action
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. -- An F-16CJ Fighting Falcon departs from the refueling track of a KC-135R Stratotanker as part of Operation Red Flag 11-3 Feb. 28. The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft that is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. The KC-135R has provided the core air refueling capability for the United States Air Force for over 50 years. Red Flag is a realistic combat training exercise that provides heavily-contested and degraded operational environments to prepare crews for major combat operations against a near-peer adversary.
