Airmen from Shaw and the Sumter community will join together to host "Jammin' July 4th" at Dillon Park in Sumter from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The event is free to the public, while food and beverages will be available for purchase.

"The U.S. Air Force Blue Aces band will perform for the second year in a row," said Pat Curran, Shaw's "Jammin' July 4th" director. "The Blue Aces are a total-variety band that plays rock, country and blues."

There will also be 16 food vendors, rides for children and a 30-minute fireworks display to close out the night.

Although many organizations are moving their Fourth of July events to July 3, we will keep to tradition and celebrate on the fourth, Curran added.

This is a community effort between the Sumter community and Shaw Airmen, said Mr. Curran.

"We encourage people to park at the Sumter Mall and take the free shuttle to Dillon Park in order to avoid delays getting into the park," he added.
Approximately 30,000 to 40,000 people are expected to attend the celebration.
