20th FW announces annual award winners

The 20th Fighter Wing announced its annual award winners during a ceremony Feb. 9 in the Carolina Skies club.

Col. Michael Byrne, 20th FW vice commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Gary Rutledge, 20th FW command chief, presented a trophy to each award winner.

"We are very proud of the Airman and civilian nominees and winners," Colonel Byrne said. "Giving these awards recognizes the hard work, dedication and commitment of each person. They are a snapshot of the caliber of people in the wing." 

"The competition was tough. There were many strong packages," Chief Rutledge said. "There are many outstanding performers within the wing." 

The award winners are:

-- Airman 1st Class Crystal Moore, 20th Security Forces Squadron, 20th Fighter Wing Airman of the Year

-- Staff Sgt. Othelia Carlson, 20th Communications Squadron, 20th FW NCO of the Year

-- Master Sgt. James Powell III, 20th Aeromedical-Dental Squadron, 20th FW Senior NCO of the Year

-- Master Sgt. John Walker, 20th Security Forces Squadron, 20th FW First Sergeant of the Year

-- Capt. Kourtney Shaw, 20th Aeromedical-Dental Squadron, 20th FW Company Grade Officer of the Year

-- Maj. Edward Earhart, 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, 20th FW Field Grade Officer of the Year

-- Sharla Pope, 20th Comptroller Squadron, 20th FW Civilian Employee of the Year for GS-6 or WG-7 empolyees and below

-- Anne Baker, 20th Contracting Squadron, 20th FW Civilian Employee of the Year for GS-7 or WG-8 employees and above

All will compete at the 9th Air Force competition.
