Warm Hearts to help Airmen

What happens if your car has just broken down, bills are due, you have children who need to be fed and payday is still a week away? Try Warm Hearts.

Warm Hearts helps Airmen who need financial assistance and have nowhere else to go, said Master Sgt. Alejandro Barin, 20th Mission Support Squadron first sergeant.

“Airmen who need financial assistance from Warm Hearts must have exhausted all other means in order to be eligible. The Airman must also have a legitimate need for a loan from the organization,” said Master Sgt. Barin.

Warm Hearts is sponsored by Team Shaw first sergeants, the organization formed earlier this month.

“It was started to help give Airmen an alternative to check cashing loans, which often carry high interest rates. The loan is to help Airmen who may unexpectedly be put in a bad financial situation and need the money for necessary living expenses,” said Sgt. Barin.

To get a Warm Heart loan an Airman simply needs to contact his or her first sergeant.

The first sergeant and the Airman will then make arrangements to pay back the loan, interest free on a monthly basis.

To finance the project, the first sergeants conduct various fundraisers. The group is currently selling 20th Fighter Wing blankets.

If interested in supporting the program, contact a first sergeant or the 20th Fighter Wing command chief.
