"To lift or not to lift, that is the question," or at least now it is.

The 20th Force Support Squadron fitness center annex received new gym equipment for handicapped Team Shaw members.

"The equipment was purchased to assist the wounded warriors who are unable to use normal equipment," said Charles Glover, 20th FSS fitness and sports director "It is also geared toward use by elderly retirees."

The new equipment includes a low row machine, leg extension, curl, and press machines, chest and shoulder press machines, and a Kinesis One machine which is a stand-alone workout station providing resistance across three planes of movement.

Having the new equipment is helpful because it gives Team Shaw members who otherwise wouldn't have an opportunity to work out and pursue fitness the chance to live out the physical resiliency domain of Comprehensive Airmen Fitness, said Glover.

The reception of the new equipment is very positive. The new equipment is easier for retirees and their spouses to use, Glover added.

"It falls on us to ultimately take care of our Airmen - past, present, and future," said Chief Master Sgt. Christopher McKinney, 20th Fighter Wing command chief. "This equipment gives us the ability to empower them to push themselves to be the best they can be."

To lift or not to lift may now be the question for many Team Shaw members because of the 20th FSS fitness center's dedication to providing excellent service to the base and the community.
