The Mental Health Flight at Shaw AFB offers a variety of outpatient services for eligible beneficiaries on a priority basis.

In the Mental Health Clinic, we currently are only able to see active duty members for emergency assessments, evaluations, individual therapy and other types of support. At different times of the year, group therapy is available. Very soon, the MHC will have a psychiatrist who will be able to provide medication evaluations and treatment to active duty service members.  Family members, dependents, and retirees can be seen in emergency situations when an individual's safety is at risk.

In the Family Advocacy Program, active duty and their family members can receive support through the New Parent Support Program, parenting classes, and marital counseling. Maltreatment assessments and long-term treatment are also available.

The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program (ADAPT) provides substance use evaluations and treatment for active duty members. Family members can receive a one-time evaluation and will be referred for further assessment/treatment if necessary.

In addition, these beneficiary categories and all other non-active duty beneficiaries may call TRICARE ValueOptions at 1-800-700-8646 to access behavioral and mental health benefits, verify eligibility, and obtain authorizations for services in the civilian TRICARE network. One other method for obtaining support is military one source, http://www.militaryonesource.mil. They will ask several quick questions to determine the appropriate resources for an individual.

We are open Monday  to Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and will stay as long as needed in an emergency situation.

Please call 895-6199 for more information.
