Rare creature appears in South Carolina Published Jan. 13, 2010 By Scott Eck 20th Fighter Wing Safety Office SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Now that the cold weather is here, a certain creature will begin to make its appearance in South Carolina. This creature is normally found in most northern states because of the cold and snowy weather in those locations. However, it has been known to migrate south when the winter weather arrives. What am I talking about? The peephole driver. We have all seen them before: the drivers who clear a small spot on the windshield of their car or side windows - just enough to see out. The problem is peephole drivers have most of their front, side and back vision obscured by heavy frost and ice that remains on their windows and they cannot properly see what is going on around them. That impaired vision can lead to a mishap. Don't add to the peephole driver population. Clear all of your vehicle windows of frost, ice and snow. Make sure your defroster is working and your wiper blades are serviceable. Remember, clear vision can mean the difference between life and death out on the road.
