Satellite pharmacy accepting civilian prescriptions March 17

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Beginning March 17, all civilian prescriptions for DoD beneficiaries will be filled at the satellite pharmacy located in the Exchange complex.

Satellite pharmacy hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. The satellite pharmacy will accept telephone and faxed prescriptions from civilian providers and transfer in prescriptions previously filled at both civilian and other military pharmacies.

Patients who do not wish to wait for their medications are encouraged to use the new civilian prescription drop box. The drop box will be located in the satellite pharmacy waiting area and allows a patient seeing a civilian provider to place their prescription(s) in an envelope for pick-up at a later time. Individuals using this service will be required to completely fill out an envelope with the patient's name, patient's date of birth, sponsor's social security number, patient's allergies and a good contact number. Envelopes will be provided by the pharmacy.

Prescriptions placed in the drop off box will be available for pick-up a minimum of three hours later. Prescriptions dropped off after 2 p.m. will be available the following duty day at the satellite pharmacy's pick-up window.

The 20th Medical Group Pharmacy at Shaw AFB would like to be your pharmacy of choice. Patients filling their prescriptions at Shaw AFB pharmacies do not have to pay a co-pay.

Active duty, retirees and dependents are all eligible to utilize the services, and prescriptions are accepted from both military and civilian providers. Please note prescriptions will only be filled for those medications on the 20th MDG formulary.

A list of formulary medications can be found on the 20th MDG Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/20thmedicalgroup or on the official Shaw AFB website, http://www.shaw.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-121121-041.pdf.
