Shaw AFB is home to more than 80 F-16 Fighting Falcons, making the 20th Fighter Wing the largest combat composite fighter wing in the Air Force.

Pilots from the 20th FW's three fighter squadrons train daily to maintain superior combat capabilities. In addition to that, 20th Maintenance Group Airmen work in conjunction with each other to ensure Shaw's F-16 Fighting Falcons are ready for any and all missions.

In this set of images, Staff Sgt. Austin Ludwig, a 20th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chief, works with a 55th Fighter Squadron pilot to launch an F-16 Fighting Falcon for a routine sortie.
