Chief Master Sergeant Jarrod W. Getz serves as the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 20th Fighter Wing (FW), Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. He is the primary enlisted advisor to the wing commander on all matters concerning the readiness, training, education, and resiliency of more than 7,000 active-duty Airmen and civilian personnel, as well as 8,000 family members. Additionally, he oversees support operations for geographically separated units across nine states. Chief Getz plays a critical role in advancing the wing's mission to provide combat-ready airpower and sustain operational suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD), employing three F-16 Fighting Falcon squadrons and maintaining an aircraft fleet valued at $3.4 billion to deploy, employ, and sustain air superiority.
Chief Getz enlisted in the Air Force in October of 2001 and has led in roles like fireteam leader, squad leader, flight chief, Deployed Aircraft Ground Response Element (DAGRE) team leader, and Contingency Response (CR) team chief for high profile missions globally and in contested regions. His leadership roles in the Air Force have allowed him to work with all services in the harshest deployed conditions. Furthermore, Chief Getz has developed both enlisted and officers, civilians, and both Air Reserve Component and Air National Guard forces across the spectrum of warfare in garrison and deployed environments. He has direct leadership experience in Operations: ENDURING FREEDOM, JUNIPER SHIELD, JUNIPER MICRON, ATLANTIC RESOLVE, ALLIES WELCOME, SOUTHERN GUARD, MIDNIGHT HAMMER, SOUTHERN SPEAR, and EPIC FURY. Prior to his current position, he served as the Command Chief for the 621st Contingency Response Wing (CRW), Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL), New Jersey and Travis Air Force Base (AFB), California.
