SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- U.S. Airmen assigned to the 20th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department, explosive ordnance disposal flight and emergency management flight worked together with the 20th Aerospace Medicine Squadron bioenvironmental engineer flight to conquer a simulated chemical spill at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., Jan. 19, 2017. The simulated spill was part of a joint unit hazardous material (HAZMAT) training exercise to help increase the Airmen’s preparedness should a similar event happen on base or while deployed overseas. The HAZMAT training is scheduled to be conducted quarterly to help keep Airmen conditioned on the proper procedures to follow in a chemical environment.
