The 20th Force Support Squadron Airman and Family Readiness Center re-opened for business, Jan. 30.

The main A&FRC facility closed for construction due to structural damage on Oct. 27, 2015. The original construction was expected to be completed by December 2016, but the renovation was delayed due to a broken water pipe.

“Although there were some delays with the renovations, we have recovered from the temporary relocation and continue to move forward,” said Master Sgt. David Patten, 20th FSS readiness NCO in charge.

While the facility was closed, the services functioned at independent locations.

Throughout the duration of the updates, the facility received a makeover consisting of new furniture, lighting and carpeting.

With a freshly revamped facility, the A&FRC can serve the members of Team Shaw in a central location as opposed to being scattered across the base.

“We offer over 15 different types of services to our members on base,” said Dorcus Haney, 20th FSS community readiness consultant. “We assist by providing various programs to include employment assistance, transition assistance and relocation programs, all intended to help further the careers of Team Shaw members.”

Now that all services have been relocated to the main site, the A&FRC will continue to offer its services under the same roof. These services consist of:

- Air Force Aid assistance
- Army emergency relief
- A&FRC discovery resource center
- Air Force Wounded Warrior support
- Employment assistance support
- Information and referral
- Military child education
- Mobilization and deployment readiness program
- Personal financial readiness
- Personal and work life education
- Relocation assistance program
- Transition assistance program
- Veterans administration
- Volunteer resource program
- Exceptional Family Member Program - family support

Revitalized and ready to assist, the A&FRC is back in business. For additional information contact the A&FRC at 803-895-1252.
