Heroes at Home assists Air Force families by providing financial education, tips and tricks to help with investing, paying off debt and making money last longer.

Throughout the event, Airmen were able to interact and talk with financial experts and planners about savings plans, social security and credit card debt.

“Our hope is that coming out here it will spark a lightbulb in the service members about the importance of remaining financially smart,” said Joseph Montanaro, United Services Automobile Association financial planner. “These face-to-face interactions can really lay the foundations for a stable financial future.”

Speakers such as Ellie Kay, Heroes at Home founder and CEO, spent the afternoon with the audience talking about how they could be smarter with their money and the possible risks of not doing so.

“I don’t believe there are any mistakes you can’t get past,” said Kay. “What matters most, from here on out, is you can still turn your finances around and make better choices in the future. Those choices will help not only you, but your future family as well.”

The A&FRC worked with the Heroes at Home to focus talking points on military-wide financial weakness and gave Airmen the opportunity to invest in their financial future. By maintaining financial stability, Airmen can improve their family’s readiness and their ability to focus on the mission.
