Shaw celebrates Air Force birthday

This week’s flashback Friday focuses on gathering in celebration.

Close to 800 Team Shaw members and community leaders met to celebrate the 69th Air Force birthday and the 75th Anniversary of Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., at Sumter, S.C., Sept. 16, 2016.

The event was a formal celebration of the day the Army Air Corps separated from the Army and became the Air Force, Sept. 18, 1947.

The 2017 Air Force Ball celebrating the Air Force’s 70th birthday is scheduled to be held at Hangar 1200 at Shaw AFB, Sept. 23.
