Sumter community supports Shaw

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- This week’s flashback Friday is a reminder of the local community’s appreciation for Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.

Team Shaw members gather for the 2nd Annual Military Appreciation Picnic, hosted by the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce, at Shaw, Oct. 16, 2009.

The picnic, hosted every year since 2008, is put on through the combined effort of community members and businesses with the purpose of showing support for military members and civilian employees.

The 9th annual picnic is scheduled to take place at Shaw, Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to all active-duty military members and civilian employees working at Shaw.
