Sumter salutes veterans

This week’s flashback Friday focuses on the patriotism of Sumter, South Carolina, residents.

Airmen assigned to the 20th Fighter Wing and local community members gathered for a Veterans Day parade in Sumter, Nov. 11, 2016.

The parade was held for the community to honor military members past and present.

Honor guardsmen assigned to the 20th Force Support Squadron led service members in the parade. The parade was followed by a ceremony honoring military members and a gathering for Sumter residents to meet and speak with local veterans.

This year’s Veterans Day Celebration, hosted by the Sumter County Veterans Association, is scheduled to be held at the corner of Main and Bartlette in Sumter at 10 a.m., Nov. 11, 2017.
