Technology has become one of the most popular ways for finding information quickly and easily.

In order to help base patrons find information in the palm of their hand Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina introduced an app February 2018, and a new Chapel app launched, January 2019.

The Shaw AFB app includes a phone list, base map and a finance feature along with many more helpful additions.

Finding helpful links for newcomers, base news and alerts, and commander bios is made easy with the app.

The finance feature allows Airman the option of signing in from their phone, prior to their arrival to the Mission Support Group building.

Finance has many customers daily, which can make for longer wait times but can be solved by using the app’s sign-in option.

Master Sgt. Rodney McInnis, 20th Comptroller Squadron financial operations flight chief, says the app will enable customers to come in, get expedient service and not have to wait.

The Shaw AFB Chapel app is a quick way to find worship services information, connect with faith groups off base and take a Spiritual Emotional Relational Assessment.

The SER Assessment encourages Airman to anonymously self-assess themselves and allows the chapel to see how people are doing.

“The Chapel app allows Airmen access to information and connect with communities that can help them build spiritual fitness, maintain their resiliency, and grow in a new way,” said Maj. Brandon Markette, 20th Fighter Wing chaplain.

To find out what these apps offer, they are free to download in the App Store.
