WOW: Senior Airman Santiago-Arguelles

We sat down with Senior Airman Eymard Santiago-Arguelles, 20th Equipment Maintenance Squadron crew chief, to get to know him and how he helps keep our jets flying safely. Santiago-Arguelles is best known for his hard-working attitude. At home, Santiago-Arguelles enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym and watching conspiracy documentaries.

 

Where are you from?

Born and raised in Mexico, after 15 years my parents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio.

 

Why did you decide to join the Air Force?

I didn’t know what to do after high school and I wanted to start working and earn money.

 

How long have you been at Shaw?

About two years.

 

What is your favorite part of South Carolina?

The beach, it reminds me of Mexico.

 

How would you describe a normal day?
We work on wheels and tires so it depends on the flightline.

 

What is your favorite sport? Team?

Soccer, I don’t like to watch it because it’s boring so I don’t have a favorite team, but I love to play it.

 

How would you describe your leadership style?

By example, I don’t like to tell people what to do. I’ll do it and people will follow.  

 

What is one Air Force resource you found that is incredibly beneficial?

The education benefits.

 

What’s your outlook mailbox look like?

I probably have like 600 emails.

 

What is your least favorite task and how do you make sure you get it done?

My least favorite part would be cleaning at the end of the day. All the tools get messy and we have to make sure they’re ready for tomorrow.

 

What is your favorite part of the job?

Teaching new Airmen how to do the job.
