An intramural volleyball competition for Team Shaw members is being held at the fitness center here from March 18 to April 16.

Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there is a game scheduled at 6:00, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m.

There are seven teams competing in the tournament to include: 20th Force Support Squadron, Operations Support Squadron, Civil Engineering Squadron, Component Maintenance Squadron, and Wing Staff Agencies; 28th Operational Weather Squadron; and Air Forces Central.

"It isn't competitive volleyball so you can have new people who are wanting to learn the game come in and play with experienced players without having to pay a lot of money or join a league," said Senior Airman Shaun Kline, 20th CMS electronic warfare technician and the 20th CMS team coach.

Kline has played intramural volleyball before and says he enjoys the experience, but he isn't the only one enjoying the tournament.

Joining others to play in an organized tournament is a lot more fun than just showing up to play at the gym, said Alison Dorton, spouse of Senior Airmen Gregory Dorton, 20th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 77th Tigers Aircraft Maintenance Unit crew chief, and a 20th CMS team member.

"It brings people together, gives them a sense of teamwork, and allows (them) to meet new people," she added.

At the end of the season, the teams will be ranked based on their number of wins and will be placed into brackets for a post-season tournament. The dates for the games of the post-season tournament have yet to be determined.
