Resources and event information related to Shaw can now be found in one spot - a free app called MyMC2 which Shaw is scheduled to launch on Jan. 25.

"MyMC2 is an all-purpose app that centralizes Shaw's organizations, community events and services into one location," said Capt. Ann Blodzinski, 20th Fighter Wing public affairs officer. "And, the best part is it's all at your fingertips."

My Military Community, or MyMC2, is a free app for both Android and Apple devices that compiles up-to-date event information, resources and local organizations and their phone numbers from Shaw-related Facebook pages into one central, easy access location for the base community.

"With technology progressing, Airmen and their families are getting their information in more non-traditional ways," Blodzinski continued. "This app allows them to get up-to-date information about the base and community activities going on without much effort on their part."

Shaw's MyMC2 includes information from organizations like:
· 3rd Army/U.S. Army Central
· 20th Fighter Wing
· Groups like 5/6 and the Enlisted Spouses Club
· 20th FSS facilities like the Airmen and Family Readiness Center; Information, Tickets and Travel; and Carolina Skies Club and Conference Center

MyMC2 provides a call button to most of the organizations as well as a description of the organization and a link to their Facebook page and website. Also, information on events happening in the community can be found. This can include:
· Classes hosted by the A&FRC or the Spratt Education Center
· Trips like overnight ski trips or shopping trips hosted by the Chapel and 20th FSS
· Parties at Carolina Skies and the Wateree Recreation Area.

The next five available events are displayed on MyMC2's main page. Users have the ability to display events by organization, event category type and date.

Along with a calendar of events and information on base organizations, MyMC2 also provides a quick call button to Airmen Against Drunk Driving and 20th Security Forces Squadron.

"In addition, the app can be used even when an Airman changes stations or visits another base," Blodzinski added. "MyMC2 is a huge benefit to Team Shaw."

The app allows users to change installations within the settings giving service members and their families' free access to information and resources of 44 other installations that are included in MyMC2. So, when service members are traveling to or from Shaw, they can stay connected to the services and resources open to them.

"One of my jobs is making sure Airmen and their families have information about what is going on in their community, and this is just another tool to be able to provide timely information to Team Shaw," Blodzinski said.

MyMC2 is a free app that can be downloaded from the Android Market or the Apple App Store and can be found by searching for either "MyMC2" or "My Military Community."

"The cool thing about the app is you don't have to do anything but download it to get the wealth of information offered," Blodzinski said.
