Team Shaw recently upgraded one of four on-base running trails, with stationary exercise equipment intended for use by those running the mile-and-a-half trail, which begins at the east sports complex.

The course now features 14 exercise stations spaced approximately 600 feet apart, giving runners options to perform a variety calisthenic exercises along with their aerobic workout.
"This is something we've wanted to do for a while now," said Charlie Glover, 20th Force Support Squadron fitness and sports director. "We want to give people more of a variety than just staying inside and doing their fitness."

The trail now has exercise options such as chin-up, sit-up and push-up bars, seated leg press and body curl stations, as well as balancing and isometric squat stations. All trails and equipment can be used by Airmen, Soldiers, dependents and Team Shaw members.

"The idea and ultimate goal is to be able to go to any trail on base and get the same type of workout," Glover explained.

In addition to future installation of new exercise equipment on each running trail, Team Shaw members can also expect automated lights to be installed throughout all base trails for those running or exercising during hours of darkness.

More information on upcoming fitness trail renovations will be released as it is made available.
