Radio station offers free holiday greetings to deployed servicemembers Published Dec. 4, 2012 By Rob Sexton 20th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Carolina Country 94.3 FM, a Columbia radio station, is offering Team Shaw members the opportunity to send free holiday voice greetings to their deployed "significant others" this holiday season. The free service only requires a phone call to answer a few questions and record your greeting. The messages will be sent to the deployed servicemember, and will be played locally in this area, another way to honor him or her. Debby Rogers of Carolina Country radio, said, "Most of us will spend the holidays at home, surrounded by the ones we love. There is a large group of citizens, however, who don't have that luxury. "We realize their families are sacrificing their time with their loved one as well. We want to acknowledge them this holiday season!" Rogers added, "Having the families leave messages for their loved ones reminds us all how many sacrifices (they) make, and how proud we are of them. They are serving, too!" Starting immediately and ending January 1, Rogers explained, Carolina Country 94.3 will be broadcasting holiday greetings locally, plus the radio station will forward a holiday greeting from home. All you need to do is call the station's Dutch Square Center hotline, 803-753-6811, at any time to leave a message. Your on-air message won't include - but Carolina Country needs - your deployer's name, email and deployed address. For information, call Debby Rogers at Carolina Country, 803-753-6812.
