Twenty-eight retired general officers from three states will gather here Oct. 10 to 12, 2012, for the first regional Tri-State Leadership Forum.

The forum is designed to bring together retired general officers from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia which host major Air Force installations, providing leaders an occasion to learn about current force trends, missions, advancements and challenges. The event provides retired Air Force generals a chance to network with today's Airmen and each other.

"This leadership forum introduces yesterday's Air Force leaders to today's Airmen. The forum provides an opportunity to learn from each other," said Maj. Gen. Lawrence Wells, 9th Air Force commander. "Ultimately, the forum will bring together leaders who dedicated three decades of their lives to military service. Our goal is to showcase Airmen in the fight in Afghanistan operations, while also sharing technological advancements and challenges faced by today's Airman. Additionally, this forum provides attendees an opportunity to be 're-blued,' to rekindle their Air Force spirit and reconnect to their military roots."

As former Air Force generals, attendees will bring past experience in leadership, business, commerce, education and government affairs to the conference.

Topics of discussion include the Air Force's role in current operations around the world, to include Afghanistan. Shaw AFB, S.C. is home to U.S. Air Forces Central Command Headquarters, a modern facility where more than 900 joint service members plan operations throughout a 20-nation Area of Responsibility. Additionally, the retired generals also have the opportunity to hear about U.S. Army operations from the Army component, U.S. Army Central Command.
