Locals show appreciation for Shaw

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. --  The fourth annual military appreciation picnic is scheduled to be held here in Hangar 1200 Sept. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The free picnic is presented by SAFE Federal Credit Union and the military affairs committee of the Sumter Chamber of Commerce, and is open to all Team Shaw members in uniform.

Organizers anticipate feeding 1,200 to 1,500 of Shaw's military men and women. Music, burgers, hot dogs, southern side dishes and beverages have all been donated as a way to say "thank you" to Shaw's military members for their contributions to the community.

Base and community leaders are scheduled to serve food at the event and there will be displays by local businesses and agencies.
