South Carolina Congressional staff members toured the installation and learned about Team Shaw here Aug. 21.

More than ten staffers and local civic leaders spent the day learning about the 20th Fighter Wing, 9th Air Force, U.S. Air Forces Central and Third Army/U.S. Army Central missions.

Retired Maj. Gen. "Dutch" Holland, Sumter-Shaw Partnership for Progress executive director, explained the visit as an opportunity to get the offices the visibility needed so they can all have a baseline understanding of installation issues across S.C.

Topics of most concern were construction projects on the installation that need funding in order to continue the mission, what the current and future budget cutbacks effects are on Shaw and how to make those cutbacks while reaching out to the community to fill certain losses.

The group also toured installations in the Beaufort and Charleston areas.
