Moving? 3 weeks to schedule goods move Published May 9, 2012 By 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Due to the upcoming, peak, permanent-change-of-station season, the household goods booking office now requires a three-week lead time to schedule actual pick-up dates. "Flexibility is important, and building time into your PCS moving schedule for unforeseen circumstances is recommended," said Staff Sgt. Angela Wilson, 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron personal property counselor. Servicemembers must arrange their household goods shipment through the Defense Personal Property System, except non-temporary storage, government contracted local moves and stateside moves weighing 999 pounds or less. However, these types of moves will still fall under the three-week policy. If one needs help navigating through DPS, online training videos and how-to guides can be found at move.mil. The Shaw transportation management office is available to answer any questions one may have and to learn all of the available options. For any questions or concerns about the moving process, please contact the transportation office at 803-895-8613 or 8614, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. For technical issues and support please contact the DPP system response center at 1-800-462-2176 or send an e-mail to sddc.safb.dpshd@us.army.mil
