America's Armed Forces Kids Run

The America's Armed Forces Kids Run was held here May 18.

The run took place at the Youth Sports Complex and was guided by Larry "Coach" Stegall, 20th Force Support Squadron youth sports director.

The kids participating in the run were required to run set distances based on their age.
 
The five and six year olds ran one-half mile, the seven and eight year olds ran one-mile, and the nine to twelve year olds ran two-miles, with a finish line reward of an "America's Kids Run Tee-Shirt" and the cheers of their proud parents. The parents were encouraged to hit the track with their kids and many did.

Shaw had 142 kids run the race and 36 adults escort them.

The following are the top five finishers in each age category with the distance and finishing time:

5-6 yr olds -½ mile:
1st: Chase Denton 4:27
2nd: Jacob Turlington
3rd: Mia Hardy

7-8 yr olds - 1 mile:
1st: Jakob Padar 8:01
2nd: Ezra Lampkin
3rd: Nathan Turlington

9-13 yr olds - 2 miles:
1st: Jillian Brown 16:32
2nd: Micah Skaggs
3rd: Tristan Bowersock
