Shaw's fifth annual Earth Day expo, to help raise conservation awareness for Team Shaw members, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 20 in the Exchange lobby.

"We are setting it up so that people going into the Exchange for lunch will be able to check it out," said Mark Hall, 20th Civil Engineer Squadron pollution prevention.

Several local conservation agencies are slated to have information booths. Drawings by students from F.J. Delaine Elementary will also be displayed along with an Environmental Protection Agency video.

Forest City is slated to have a recycling information table for housing residents.

Forest City is the company managing the privatized housing project and the construction of more than 600 homes on Shaw.

"Forest City hopes to partner with a recycling company who will be handling solid waste and recyclable pickups," said Danny McKay, 20th CES pollution prevention.

The 20th CES environmental flight will also have a Sumter County collection of information on e-waste and recycling. Free promotional items such as shirts, cups and pens are scheduled to be available.

"We hope that people get that they are players in keeping the Earth clean," said Hall. "The Earth needs help and it's everyone's job. We want to make sure the places we go to play and swim are clean."
