SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. - The first elimination round of Shaw's Got Talent kicked off April 11 at the Carolina Skies Club here.

The competition was open to all military members and their dependants in the local area, said Master Sgt. Charles Crowder, 20th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron productions superintendent.

Team Shaw members showcased their various talents, competing to go on to the second round.

During the primary elimination round, individual competitors were shown one at time, most playing instruments or singing.

The judges made their critiques after each contestant, but left the votes up to the audience at the end of the show.

"We have some of the top people for judges from all around the base," Crowder said.

The show occurs every Wednesday. The audience chooses who makes it to the next round, eliminating three contestants each time.

"This is my first time to break out and be a part of something," said Airman 1st Class Ashlee Ladet, 20th Communications Squadron airfields systems technician. "I'm one of the big coordinators for the show."

The show began with 12 contestants. After the primary elimination round, nine performers moved onto the next round.

The final elimination round will be May 2, leaving three finalists competing for the trophy and $100 prize.

The event is sponsored by the 20th Force Support Squadron, the Carolina Skies Club, Rising 4, Top 3 and Shaw 5/6.
