Shaw Community Theater will be having their production of the comedy "5 Women Wearing the Same Dress" at the community center here July 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. open to all with a military I.D.

The show was written by Academy Award winner Alan Ball, writer for the T.V. show "True Blood" and the movie "American Beauty", and is directed by Daniel Phelps.

It centers around five bridesmaids in the South, who are all very different, but through the course of the show, find out how much they truly have in common with each other.

This is the first full stage production to occur here in at least 14 years, said Bob Sullivan, Shaw Community Theater president.

"While the material and language in the show is very much adult, audiences members will find themselves relating to the women in this show," said Phelps. "They are very real people who deal with issues that whether or not we have been through them ourselves, someone close to us has."

Now is a very timely opportunity to see this show, he added. With many of the on-going changes in the military and today's society, the play really hits home.

"I can relate to almost all of the characters in this show," said Michelle Casey, one of the actresses. "At some point in my life I've had a least one experience that each one of them have been through."

She said seeing this show come together has been amazing, and the cast is extremely talented.

"It's well worth it to come out and see it," said Casey.

This show is not for children, she pointed out. It is very adult-oriented, and the emotional content is very intense.
