Here are updates on some of Shaw's major construction projects:

Work on the new Army and Air Force Exchange Service base exchange is about 70 percent complete, said Andrew Drei, AAFES eastern region project manager. The project is slated to be completed Oct. 20, 2011 with the grand opening taking place Nov. 20. Replacing the oldest BX in the Air Force, the new facility will be around 80,000 square feet and contain a mall area and a food court with four different restaurants. There will also be a gas station in the BX parking lot with a small shopping area under the overhang.

The north flightline running track near the golf course is slated to be paved at the end of April or beginning of May depending on weather.

A new east gate on U.S. Highway 378 (Broad Street) is going through site work and should be done around October or November 2011.

The ribbon cutting for Third Army/ARCENT's new headquarters building will be May 20, and the entire building is scheduled to be finished in mid-July.
