The 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron was recently named the Air Combat Command's 2010 Daedalian winner.

The Daedalian award, also known as the Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Logistics Effectiveness Award, was first presented in 1962 and is presented to the squadron that achieves the best supply effectiveness record in support of mission aircraft and weapons in the U.S. Air Force. It is one of the most sought after and prestigious awards in the logistics community.

This past year the 20th LRS hit on all cylinders.

The squadron finished second during last year's ACC Daedalian competition and used that as motivation for 2010. It began with a remarkable 99.4 percent, the highest performance evaluation pass rate for any LRS in ACC during the 2010 LCAP inspection. The squadron's deployed Airmen garnered three Bronze Stars (two with oak leaf clusters), two Joint Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendations Medals, 11 Air Force Commendation Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, 11 Air Force Achievement Medals and four Combat Action Medals.

The 20th LRS also had three superior team performances that were recognized by the recent ACC Unit Compliance Inspector General's team. The squadron was also one of only two units, one warrior in each unit, publically recognized by the ACC Inspector General, Brig. Gen. Jay B. Silveria for outstanding performance.

Along with the squadron's performance, both home station and deployed, the 20th LRS garnered five individual ACC award winners for 2010.

While the accolades and awards are impressive enough, it's even more impressive to realize the achievement of these accolades coupled with the unrelenting operations tempo the 20th LRS endured over the previous 12 months.

The 20th LRS pumped more than 9,000,000 gallons of JP-8 fuel to the Air Force's largest combat-coded F-16CJ wing; filled more than 9,000 parts requests for aircraft maintainers; completed more than 10,000 vehicle maintenance actions; and deployed over 4,000 people. All of this with 102 LRS Airmen deployed for a total of 15,000 comprehensive days.

Major Anthony Mullinax, 20th LRS commander, said, "The Warriors of logistics forces . . . are solely responsible, through their outstanding effort and professional service expectations, for taking this award. I can truly say, as this award has demonstrated, I've never been around a more positively motivated group of Airmen in my life!"

The 20th LRS, called the "Wolf Pack," will now compete at the Air Force level.
