Dental clinic upgrades begin Published Feb. 10, 2011 By 20th Medical Group SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- The 20th Medical Group's dental clinic is undergoing what some call a "much-needed" facility upgrade. Dave Christians, a 20th MDG spokesperson, said the work is necessary to, "enhance the services provided to Team Shaw personnel." Besides improving the "aesthetics of the building," he noted, the project will improve facility operations, interior comfort and energy efficiency of the building. Some of the upgrades include: Replacing the roof; Replacing the old windows with new blast resistant and energy saving windows; Sealing building exterior walls; and Updating the building's heating and air conditioning systems. With the design nearly complete, actual work has already begun with power washing of the outside of the facility, he said. To ensure patient and staff safety during the roof replacement and building repairs, Christians said, there will be a few inconveniences for our customers due to required use of alternate entrances and different routes of travel inside and around the facility. "For your safety," he pointed out, "Please do not enter the designated hard hat areas or go beyond the construction barriers while walking to and from the parking lots. While inside the building, please follow temporary signs that will direct you where you will be safe." The upgrades and repairs to the dental clinic should be done by July 2011, Christians said.
