SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- The online version of the Shaw Air Force Base guide and directory was recently upgraded. The new version is interactive and provides audio as well as video to incoming personell and those looking for information about Shaw and the local community. "To our knowledge, Shaw is the first base in the Air Force to have this type of digital guide," said R.D.(Rick) Smith, president of Military Media, Inc., publisher of the guide. "It's certainly the first of our contract bases to receive this cutting-edge technology which allows the pages to 'come alive'." The new guide is here: http://www.militarymediainc.com/shaw/. The online base guide and directory includes extensive information about Shaw, which is provided by the public affairs office. Visitors can also find base telephone numbers, TriCare information and an advertising section which provides information on goods and services available in the greater Sumter community. Military friendly businesses are also featured. Military Media, Inc. is a national publisher of military guides, maps and the Pro-Military Business Network web site. The company is based in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and was established in 1983. MMI has an exclusive contract with the 20th Fighter Wing public affairs office to publish a guide for the base.
