Col. Van der Veer surpasses 3,000 flying hours
SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- Colonel David Van der Veer, Jr., 20th Operations Group commander, inspects his F-16 before taking off March 1. Reaching 3,000 hours of flight is a milestone in Col. Van der Veer's career. He is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of three F-16 fighter squadrons and an operations support squadron. In that capacity he plans, organizes and oversees more than 375 Airmen, while ensuring each squadron is ready to deploy worldwide and execute national policy.
