H1N1 vaccinations for non-active duty Published Dec. 10, 2009 20th Medical Group SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- According to the 20th Medical Group, they have received enough H1N1 vaccine for the dependent population of Shaw. Effective Dec. 14, the 20th MDG would like all enrolled dependents and others who are being cared for by a Shaw provider, who want to receive H1N1 vaccination to come into the Immunizations Clinic. No prescriptions are needed for Shaw enrolled patients. Patients who are enrolled to a downtown provider and are high risk, may present a prescription from their civilian provider. They can then be vaccinated at Shaw's Immunizations Clinic. Department of Defense officials say H1N1 vaccine is arriving in very small shipments, which has required prioritization of vaccination. Health care workers, child care workers, flyers, security forces, firemen and deployers can expect to be the first groups targeted. As DoD vaccine arrives, the medical group is immediately distributing the vaccine to the groups listed above. As with the seasonal flu, the medical group will be working with the Unit Deployment Monitors to get active-duty personnel scheduled for their vaccinations.
