Viper East showcases Air Force fighter jet capabilities worldwide as the team soars through the demonstration season.

One of two F-16 aerial demo teams in Air Combat Command, Viper East trains year-round to hone the aerial sequences flown at more than 30 events.

So far this season, the team has performed at events across the country - from Arizona, to Florida, to Massachusetts.

"We're just out there to show what the Air Force does," said Senior Airman Anthony Modugno, Viper East crew chief. "A lot of people don't know what an F-16 does until they come to the show."

And speaking of the show, it actually starts on the ground. Most people can't wait to see the tactical maneuvers of the F-16 once it's in the air, but they should also keep their eyes on the crew chiefs.

Crew chiefs are the Viper East team members who keep the demo jet in tip-top flying condition. If you're trying to spot them on the flightline, look for the Airmen in crisp, black flight suits and black boots shined to the max.

From takeoff to landing, Viper East crew chiefs execute maintenance procedures and pre-flight checks with utmost precision. They are the face of the Air Force, projecting an image of professionalism to the masses.

"To be a part of the demo team, you have to be top-notch," said Col. Robert Hopkins, 20th Maintenance Group commander. "You look for talent and experience."

Team members will head to San Pedro, Honduras, Friday, for their twelfth event this season.
