The 20th Mission Support Group held an Operational Readiness Inspection Combat Rally May 29.

The rally followed a combat theme with Ability to Survive and Operate events: post-attack reconnaissance team sweeps, gas mask donning, self-aid buddy care and litter carry races.

Teams were evaluated on speed, accuracy, efficiency and safety.

The rally was a morale-building, team-emphasized refresher in ATSO procedures that allowed members to have fun as they trained.

A little less combat-like were a MOPP 4 dance contest showcasing break dancing and the new "stanky legg" dance move. Airman 1st Class Daniel Alicea, 20th Security Forces Squadron, also known as "BBOY-D," won first place in the event.

When asked about his strategy, he replied, "Go all out, do as many moves as possible and hit the music."

Crowds cheered him on during his flips and handstands.

The 20th Civil Engineer Squadron fire department, armed with engine-mounted water cannons, kept the crowds cool in spite of temperatures in the upper 80s as teams competed in water balloon dodge ball, tug-of-war and a squadron war cry battle.

Teams competed for squadron pride and were surprised to receive $400, $600 and $1,000 checks for the top three places. First place went to the combined team of the 20th Communications Squadron and 20th Contracting Squadron followed by the 20th Force Support Squadron in second and the 20th Security Forces Squadron in third.

"We wanted everybody to come out and have fun," said Col. Ted Uchida, 20th MSG commander, "to train and get fired-up for the ORI, to help the wing achieve an outstanding rating."
