77th FS returns from Southwest Asia

SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. --  Families holding American flags and homemade welcome signs filled Hangar 1200 here as approximately 350 Shaw Airmen stepped off a plane and into the arms of their loved ones early Monday morning.

"We are excited to welcome home the brave Airmen of the 77th Fighter Squadron," said Col. Jim Post, 20th Fighter Wing commander. "I, along with the entire Shaw community, am extremely proud of the job they did fighting the war on terror in Iraq." 

The Airmen of the 77th FS, as well as about a dozen F-16s, deployed for about six months to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

"They performed their duties in a very professional and flawless manner," said Colonel Post. "I also extend my deepest gratitutde to their families for their devoted support and sacrifice they make."
