The Child Development Center held its Harvest Fest '07 here Oct. 25 where children decorated pumpkins, played games and posed for pictures with a scarecrow.

"We make this as educational as possible," said Paula Currier, 20th Services Squadron lead program technician. "These activities enhance their motor skills and they learned how corn is used to make cornbread. We want the kids to learn through play."

Last week, the children went to a local pumpkin patch where they picked pumpkins to decorate, she said.

The CDC provides quality daycare for active-duty military, contractors and DoD employees for children six weeks of age and older. They currently have full-time openings for 3, 4 and 5-year-old children.

"We also have plenty of openings for our part-day enrichment program," said Ms. Currier. "It's a preschool-age program to help children prepare for elementary school."

The enrichment program has openings for 3-year-olds Tuesdays and Thursdays and 4 and 5-year-olds Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
