Hopewell Healthcare nursing home presented a "care cushion" to the men and women of Team Shaw Aug. 24 for their service to the United States.

Chief Master Sgt. Scott Dearduff, 20th Fighter Wing command chief, accepted the cushion on behalf of Shaw during a casual ceremony at the Hopewell center.

"The care cushion will mean a lot to the Airmen. It will be a great reflection and a great opportunity for them to know our citizens, specifically at the Hopewell Healthcare, care about us as we defend our country," Chief Dearduff said.

The cushion is part of a We Care program, where residents show local agencies that they care about the service that is provided with the care cushions.

"The residents of Hopewell wanted to give a special gift to Shaw," said Margaret Winston, Hopewell Healthcare activities director.

The Shaw project is near and dear to the residents' hearts, she said. Members from the 20th FW have spent time with the residents throughout the past years, especially at Christmas time.

The F-16 CJ embroidered cushion will be displayed at the 20th FW Headquarters and will then travel to squadrons around Shaw.
