Feb. 9 will mark the end of an era. This is the last day The Shaw Spirit newspaper will be delivered. Instead of receiving information via a paper product, Shaw news will be available on the public web page at www.shaw.af.mil

"Force shaping required us to determine how to best use personnel and assets to accomplish the increasingly demanding mission," said Col. Bill Hyatt, 20th Fighter Wing commander. "Moving to a web-only information source allows the public affairs staff to concentrate their efforts on specific core tasks."

Delivering news electronically is predicted to increase information flow. Instead of waiting until Friday for news or information to come out in the paper, stories and pictures will be placed on the web as soon as they go through the approval process.

The web page will also feature Air Combat Command and Air Force top stories and video clips.

Placing the news online also means deployed personnel, local and distant retirees and members of the local community can read about what's going on at Shaw.

Nearly all the information currently found in the base paper, particularly news and features stories, will be found on the web.
