Combined Federal Campaign kicks off Published Sept. 21, 2006 By Tarsha Storey 20th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. -- The Combined Federal Campaign kicked off Wednesday and will continue until Nov. 6. All organizations that receive funding from the CFC are local, national and international tax-exempt charities that provide health and human services, according to CFC officials. "You can give money to organizations that help make the world a better place, around the world or around the community, depending on what charity you choose," said Col. Mike Byrne, 20th Fighter Wing vice commander. Each year during the CFC, all government agencies -- such as the Department of Defense, the FBI and the U.S. Postal Service -- give their employees an opportunity to give to a charitable organization, said Capt. Jeromy Guinther, Shaw's CFC chairman. This year's theme is "Every one of us can be the miracle," said Capt. Guinther. The mission of the CFC is to provide all federal employees with an employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective way to improve the quality of life for everyone. According to CFC officials, more than 300 CFC campaigns take place across the nation each year. There is no limit on the donation amount, according to CFC officials; donations can be repeating or one time only. Informational booklets and forms are available from unit CFC representatives. "Take the seven to nine seconds to look over the booklet. Regardless of what you are into, there is something for everyone," said Capt. Guinther. For more information visit www.opm.gov/cfc.
